My Story

Growing up, I did not read a lot. I was always a good writer and loved my creative writing class in 6th grade. My teacher said my stories were excellent but a little too gory. My mom was a writer. She wrote Tales of Spirit Mountain – a historical piece about the Native Americans who first lived there. One would say my writing passion stemmed from my mother.

I couldn’t deal with life in junior high as my parents were in the middle of a divorce. I rarely attended school, and after multiple troubles, treatment centers, and wards, I finally found Jesus, and everything changed. I stayed with my brother for two years before returning home to Duluth, Minnesota. After returning to Duluth, I passed the G.E.D. test, went to college, and studied English Literature. I finished college with a B.A.A. in Teaching English.

During this time, I became fascinated by the book of Revelation. I fell in love with its symbolism, imagery, and mystery.

I had also been a drama director at our church. I was directing sketches performed during services, and once I helped lead a dinner theatre production. Because of my love of theatre, I decided to write a play based on Revelation. However, I needed to dig in and study the book first. I did that for several years. Then, I thought a screenplay might be a better option, so I bought a book on how to write one. My practical-minded husband finally chimed in and said, “Why don’t you write a book?” This led me to want to write a novel based on the book of Revelation, incorporating its beautiful imagery.

There have been many ups and downs and life lessons in my many years, but none more remarkable than the love for my husband, Mark, and our three children. We have always found fellowship and strength in the church.
